Plug-ins and scripts are software modules added to the main design programs. They are developed to automate routine tasks such as creating elements, setting parameters, batch changing object styles, and assembling specifications.

These tools greatly simplify and speed up specific tasks, allowing designers to focus on more creative and complex tasks.

Plug-ins and scripts solve local problems, minimize errors and save designer's time. We apply various automation means (plugins, scripts, macros) made by both our specialists and third-party developers. The plugins are being developed, using C# and Python. When working in Revit, we intensively use Dynamo. We develop structural solutions in Revit for 3D-reinforcement, using the plugins made specically for our technology. They enable us to create, edit and check the reinforcing elements fast.

SCRIPT OR PLUGIN?

In order to choose the best way to implement automation of routine processes, it is necessary to know the level of complexity of tasks, whether a user interface is needed, what are the performance and scalability requirements, and what systems and technologies should be used and integrated. If the task is difficult enough, requires a user interface with many functions and the use of complex algorithms, you need a plugin, while for simpler functions a simple script may be suitable. 1. Management

2. Backend

Moving forward, we're building the necessary support system, or, in the IT world, creating the backend. By using languages like C# and frameworks like ASP.Net Core and sound programming principles like SOLID and DRY, we ensure the robustness of our project.

Just as reinforcement ensures a building's stability, our adept backend software developers guarantee the stability and reliability of our entire project in the digital landscape.

3. Frontend

Once the essential structures are in place, the next step is polishing the outer look of the building - or, in IT terms, it's frontend development. Think of it as giving our project a face using HTML, CSS, JS, and React.
This is where our project gets its unique identity, making it appealing and user-friendly. Just like a striking building facade grabs attention, our UX/UI designers ensure our project stands out and is easy to understand for users.

4. Testing

Quality Assurance (QA) is like quality checks after completing each floor in a building. In the IT world, this isn't a one-time thing – it's a continuous process happening at every stage of development.

Every 'floor' of our project, whether it involves backend functionality, frontend elements, or integrating new systems, goes through rigorous testing. It's our way of making sure that with every step we take, our project maintains high standards of quality and functionality.

To make it easier for our customers to take the step into the future of construction, we found a competent and reliable partner in Eneca who understood our needs and was able to implement them quickly. As part of our order, Eneca took over the development of 56 parameterized lighting families in Revit with a high level of detail and information. All models were created in the three national languages and in two formats each using Revit script. This means that future adjustments can also be implemented easily and without any problems. We confirm three-month cooperation between MT vest AS and ENECA in 2020. The subject of the contract was remote automation software programming. The team of ENECA helped with the programming if HVAC equipment and BMS system based on Johnson Controls and Easy IO PLCs. The projects covered administrative and commercial buildings based in Norway.

While working on the project, we used Teamviewer for coordination and Skype for communication. The team of ENECA was very flexible, diligent and client-oriented. Though there were some difficulties with communication and work flow at the beginning, we managed to establish a well-coordinated process afterwards. Work with ENECA was a good alternative to the direct hiring locally. I would recommend working with ENECA as your reliable outsourcing partner.
