Gas Chemical Complex
The manufacturing plant will produce polyethylene and polypropylene of various trademarks from ethane, propane and butane. The production capacity of the complex is 2.7 million tons of the ready products per year. The construction has already started in August, 2020 with a planned commissioning date in 2027. It is assumed that the enterprise s expected to become one of the largest base polymer production plants in the world.
Among the 40 structural steel detailers tasked with designing various structures for the gas chemical complex, ENECA was one of only three companies that managed to handle the extensive workload within a remarkably short timeframe.
Furthermore, ENECA was the sole company to agree to the challenge and successfully complete the work on schedule.Project Highlights:
-
Steel: Over 14,450 tons.

- Weight of Main Structures: 1,710 tons
- Number of Individual Parts: 11,097
- Number of Original Assemblies: 7,309
- Number of GA and Erection Drawings: 72
- Number of Connections: Over 12,000
- Number of Specialists Involved: 13
- Project Development Time: 3 months
Project Development Stages:
-
Initial Data Collection and 3D Model Preparation:
- Detect and correct system errors.
- Check the geometry of the 3D frame model.
- Verify and adjust model attributes.
- Utilize the AutoConnection plugin.
- Upload the model to ModelSharing.
-
Modeling of Connections and Secondary Elements:
- Edit connections with complex configurations.
- Model ladders, railings, and gratings.
- Use approaches such as:
- Individual modeling of each element.
- Utilizing standard Tekla components and Tekla Warehouse plugins.
- Implementing parametric user components.
- Leveraging the AutoConnection solution.
- Remarkably, all 12,000 connections were added in just 2 hours due to automation and the parametric component base.
-
3D Model Checks and Drawing Preparation:
- Conduct collision checks for individual parts and fasteners.
- Perform completeness checks.
- Verify attributes for parts and assemblies.
- Approaches included:
- Each specialist controls their part of the model and monitors checklist points.
- Use of interactive reports and Tekla Organizer.
- Employing Clash Check Manager to identify issues.
- Drawings developed include:
- Single part drawings.
- Assembly drawings.
- General arrangement drawings.
-
Final Document Development and Submission:
- Preliminary export of documents for internal review.
- Visual and automated verification of documents.
- Final export and submission to the client.
- Quality checks conducted by:
- Document developers (design engineers).
- Team leaders or senior specialists.
- Department heads.
- Automated quality checks using TEKLA Structures tools.
This comprehensive approach ensures the project is executed efficiently, meeting all quality standards and client expectations.
Based on their experience, I can recommend Eneca.
We worked with Eneca to create a structural Revit model of a residential complex having the floor area of 41 571 qm and consisting of 6 three-storey residential buildings with an underground car park out of 2D drawings.
We appreciate the readiness of Eneca to support us in BIM-modelling at a short notice, as well as their flexibility in providing us with the resources needed to meet a strict deadline. All the modelling was done with the division into lots in a short time within 2 weeks. Eneca’s specialists were always willing to take the time to discuss our concerns and work out additional requests.
The good knowledge of Revit and professional experience in structural design allowed Eneca’s team to quickly grasp high Implenia's modelling requirements. The BIM model was created according to 3D BKP Model guidelines and standards of Implenia including compliance to the parameters and element naming rules according to Baukostenplan Hochbau. The Eneca’s detail-oriented and organized approach helped to create a high-quality BKP model aimed at automating the calculation of construction volumes and costs.
I am pleased with the quality of the services ENECA provides. Thus, I can recommend them to others in need of similar BIM modelling services.
10 project areas together and discussed for some other future opportunities. Their engineering team is located abroad, however, the remote work is well-organized.
The design process always requires flexibility and capability to think differently, and we were pleased to see Eneca’s readiness to support us and solve all the project issues together. When there was a need to do some quick revisions at a very late stage, Eneca's specialists performed them in a high qualitative and timely manner. The technical competence and deep Tekla knowledge of Eneca’s team as well as their high-performance efficiency and always keen in continuous improvement, provided us an important support in our engineering process.
